My friend wants to make her dark brown curly hair (red undertones) a silver-grey, like Meryl Streep in "The Devil Wears Prada."

She is deathly afraid it turning orange-y.

What do we need to do (bleach, then dye?)

Where can we maybe find a silver hair dye?

Does she need to have it done by a professional?

This is a very poor idea since the bleach and dye will be extremely damaging to the hair (which is what it will likely take to accomplish this). Also, as soon as her roots grow out a bit, they will look terrible against the silver hair--and odd. Why would anyone dye their hair grey or silver?
