Why does my regrowth seem grey?

First things first..I'm about 20 years old..I got my cosmetology license like 2 years ago..so I know a thing or two about hair..But I am stumped by this...I have naturally Dark brown hair..about 10 months ago I had blonde highlights added..2 months after that I decided to go all dark brownish black..and I've had it that way ever sense..Now, my regrowth, witch is hardly noticable (bcuz its so very close to my natural color) has some blonde/grey strands sprinkled through it..I know it couldnt possible be the old blonde, bcuz it would have been grown out even farther by now, not at my roots...It is not that noticable, in fact it just looks like lighter hair, but when you look up close..you can see grey in it..or very very light blonde..BUT the reason why i believe it is grey is because it is thicker and more coarse than my natural hair..and grey hair is normally like that..I know I've been rambling..so I'll end it here...ONLY serious answers PLEASE.

Why does my regrowth seem grey?

honey, you have gray hair

Why does my regrowth seem grey?

I know it seems young - but it is not really that unusual to have some grey hairs even in your mid to late teens. The easiest thing to do is ask your mom when she first noticed grey hairs. I went to school with a girl that had dark hair and she started getting greys in at about 15. Not many, but enough that we all noticed.

Don't fret - the coarser grey ones add a bit of body to your hair. I like my hair much more now that I have about 5% grey. (although I color it back to brown).

maybe youre going gray? it happens to a lot of young people...

Why does my regrowth seem grey?

hmm that is a good question. I graduated from a Paul Mitchell School...

HONESTLY, if you dyed your hair a dark brown/back color RECENTLY - that would explain what we call the "gunsmoke" color. Im sure you know that TANSITIONING from a light to a dark REQUIRES A "filler" or repig. Especially if you used BOX color, the chemicals are A LOWER GRADE with unpredictable results...Professional colors ARE better overall, they can be tweaked to the results you want with out a filler (OR PAUL MITCHELL CAN ANYWAY!) IF YOU KNOW YOUR STUFF! LOL

and if thats not it girl, then maybe it really is natural grey hair!

:) goodluck with this
