I go to a salon and get a permanent dye put on my hair but im finding the grey is coming through within three - four weeks.Should i change my hairdressers or is it just the speed my hair comes in.
How long should a hair dye last?
As previously stated; if it's at the scalp, it's new growth and 3-4 weeks is normal. If it's fading off the strand that rapidly there could be a few things lacking. For instance; grey hair is actually clear and completely lacks melanin. A base color of gold should be applied first or some should be added to your current color formula to aid grey coverage.
Besides being clear, grey hair also has extra cuticle layers; this makes it a bit more difficult for color to penetrate to the cortex. Home care products designed for color treated hair can also help extend the life of your hue.

new growth.... if it is hair dye fading. then talk to stylist, there are additives she can use to make it last longer... also there are many products to extend the length of your color.....

That sounds normal. Usually every 4 weeks is the average a person would need to go back.

Hair dye / coloring your hair, is permenant. This means it shouldnt go away or fade! Only your roots at the top will come through, but that's understandable since your hair grows! That isnt normal, so I think you should find another hair place. Good luck :)

nah - touch-ups should be due 4 - 6 weeks depending on the colour you have. I have a real deep red, and within 4 weeks I have 2 cm roots and carrot coloured hair.

if the gray is just on your roots, then 3-4 weeks is about normal, depending on the speed of your hair growth. If it's coming through where your hair has already grown out, your hairstylist may need to use some different kind of product to lengthen the lifespan of the color she's putting into your hair.

with a permanent haircolour then you should only be experiencing "roots" or new hair growth which should be your natural colour, the haircolour shouldn't be fading to the point that your natural hair colour is coming through the permanent coloured hair- this means in my eyes that the hairdresser is either not leaving the colour on for the required amount of time or she is putting a semi-permanent on and not a permanent, either that or you are using a clarifying shampoo which does have a tendency to slightly strip out colour (but NOT to the point whereupon you should be seeing your natural colour) i would find a new hairdresser if i were you.

i reckon its just your hair. i get my hair bleached blonde, and it my roots start to come through within about 3 days.

Don't worry! It is nothing to do with your hairdresser at all!
Everyone's hair grows at a different rate, it sounds like your hair grows quite quickly, so when you dye your hair you should probably choose a colour which doesn't show your grey so much, like honey coloured blonde, or just have your hair dyed more often.

i'm afraid the grey coming through is down to the rate at which your hair grows.are you having a full head colour and how dark is the colour which is applied?sometimes changing the depth of colour so that there is not as much contrast between the colour applied and the grey coming through or if you are having a dark colour having a few lighter foils through the front section (which is normally the area where the grey is more concentrated) can disguise the grey a little more then you can maybe get a couple more weeks before a retouch.
