Why do people in third world countries have thicker hair?

I'm sure people with immigrant parents have noticed this but have never really thought about it. I was just watching my cousin's wedding video from Vietnam and I couldn't help but notice how thick everyones hair was, especially the older folk. My 50, 60 year old uncles don't show any signs of baldness and their hair is still quite black. Weird. Even the much older folk have lots of grey hair on their heads. it's not genetics because immigrant men that come to North America are just as balding as everyone else their age. Their also fatter too but that's a given. Does anyone have any theories as to why this is? I think it might be because it's more humid in most third world country leading to healthier scalps? If someone figures this out I'm sure they would make a killing in treating baldness!

I think it's probably beause they are not exposed to all the luxuries we have in the US. Food, health care products, and all those things we don't really need.

if your country is very sunny, and always hot, of course your hair should be made adapted to that enviroment. say for instance people from africa. their hair is curly and thick, because they came from a sunny area. just like whites have fair hair, to make it possible to adapt to cold conditions.

a black skin is also thicker and full of colour, to enable those people to adapt to the hot weather. while a white skin is very thin, and lighter, to enable those people to adapt to cold weathers. the hairs goes with their skins.

how ever, the way you ask questions sounds suspicious. next time you ask a question such as that, make sure you ask in a proffessional manner. immigrant is mostly refered to blacks, as well as most sociologist believe. well than if an immigrant settled in a certain country, and give birth to the 2nd or so generation, they are no longer called immigrants. they have become part of that country,s citizens or nationals. bear in mind that they would still have the same hair textures as their parents, or generations. and they won,t change any part of their skin. you should refraim from calling people old folks, because not all people could take your jokes.

i suggest that you learn how to respect other people, as most of your opinions or questions would not be tolerated.

judging from your question, i can see that you are not educated yourself. since educated people knows better than what you just ask.

Having lived in Viet Nam for the last 4 years, that striking observation has escaped my attention. It is amazing though how Vietnamese don't go gray like other countries, or people in the west! It must be the diet?
