Question for hairdressers about dying hair?

I had my hair re done yesterday. I have dark brown almost black put on my hair and then I have some chunky blonde streaks along the top by my parting.

The dark brown/black colour is a semi so I had that re done all over... then for the blonde bits I just had the roots done. She put the bleach on the roots and then did it up in strips of foil. To make the hair all stay in the foil she applied conditioner.

Anyway within a few hours of gettin home the blonde bits turned grey. Its as if the colour from the foil has come out and dyed my hair?

Can this happen or what has gone wrong? The top parts of the streaks that were bleached are fine and its defintly not just looking grey coz of the contrast or anything. Its proper gone grey/silver in colour.

I was gonna go back and get them to sort it out free of charge but I have work tomorrow and dont wanna go in with grey streaks! so have bought some semi in dark brown/black that matches the rest to cover it up will this be ok to do?

Ok I am a hairstylist so I'll give you my opinion of what I think happened.

She redid you highlights in the foils and put the all over color on at the same time.

I think what she did was pull the foils out of your hair b4 she actually washed out most of the darker color. So what has happened is that the lighter pieces in the foils have picked up the darker color that was put all over.

So what you are actually looking at is a very light blonde with a slight tinge of black/dark brown laying on top giving the illusion of grey.

If your stylist used a demi permanent color it will eventually wash out, however seeing as you have to go to work, the demi that you bought may work. I would suggest though that you try to pull your hair back into a cute pony to hide the highlights until you can get back in.

And just for the record there is no color in regular silver foil and the foil doesn't affect the color process, if it did we wouldn't use it.

Good luck

i think she used the wrong foil on ur hair...something horrible went wrong go back to here complain in a respectful way and make sure she fixes it for free...i had to do that yesterday at my hairdresser and she fixed me for free....

The foil does not color the hair grey. The bleach may have toned you down to "white" and so, with your darker color it looks grey.

Also, call the salon and tell them you are not happy and make a date to repair their boo-boo. Make sure you stress that was not the color you wanted and that you expect them to fix it.

I suggest that you ask to get a blonde toner (not perm. color--4-6 weeks) and just put it on everything it will not change your basic color but will tone the streaks, but see what your hairdresser recommends.

Good luck, girl.

It sounds as tho it was the foil.. Only top grade foil should be used. OR plastic wrap is good to go in todays world also.

By a very slight chance she may have picked up someone elses color by mistake.. but very unlikely.

Call your hairdresser immediately and ask her how she would like to handle this? To prohibit a dram shop suit she could very likely bring her stuff to your house at your convenience... ???

What ever it takes to please you...
